Clara and her prince arrive at his kingdom and are greeted by all of the
villagers.  The Water Nymphs are there to protect their king and queen, Koi
Fish, Arabian Angelfish, Russian Seahorses, Lobsters, Starfish, Mermaids, as
well as Princess Atargatis also arrive to greet Clara.  Clara is crowned honorary
queen of their village and sits with her prince to watch the villagers perform
dances for her.  To Clara’s delight, King Poseidon and Queen Amphitrite
perform a beautiful Pas de Deux in her honor.  As Clara begins to join in the
dances, she finds that the villagers and even her prince are slowly fading
away.  Confused and upset, she tries to keep her new friends with her, but
Blackbeard’s pirates have returned seeking to avenge the death of their
leader.  Clara is left alone with the pirates until Drosselmeyer suddenly arrives
to rescue her.  In that moment, Clara finds herself beneath the old yaupon tree
beside her house.  With the nutcracker doll in her arms, Clara realizes that
she'd never been woken from her sleep, it had all been a dream…
At a grand plantation home overlooking Cape Fear's saltwater marshes, Mr. and
Mrs. Stahbaulm are hosting their annual Christmas party.  Their children, Clara
and Fritz are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their guests.  With friends and family
dancing under twisting yaupon trees, Clara's uncle Drosselmeyer, an old
magician and woodworker, has arrived with ever-surprising gifts.  He presents
sized dolls that dance as if by magic.  Afterward, he presents Clara with a very
special gift, a hand-carved nutcracker.  Jealous of Clara’s present, Fritz takes
the nutcracker from her and breaks it.  Drosselmeyer mends the doll and the
party continues with festive dancing.
After the party, Clara sneaks outside to watch the Loggerhead sea turtles and
falls asleep under a yaupon tree.   Drosselmeyer then comes to Clara’s side
and demonstrates the depth of his magic.  He turns her doll into a life-sized
nutcracker.  Clara’s joy is interrupted by the arrival of her Nutcracker’s long time
enemies, Blackbeard and his pirates, atop their massive ship.  The Nutcracker,
knowing that Blackbeard seeks to destroy him, calls in troops of the Royal
Navy, and a battle commences.  Blackbeard is defeated by the Nutcracker, and
his gang of pirates retreat to the ocean.   With Blackbeard’s death, a magic
spell is broken turning the Nutcracker into his true form, a living prince.  Clara
and her prince are greeted by the great egrets, and they enjoy watching the
night herons come out to feed along the coast be dawn.  With the night herons
guiding the way, the prince leads Clara to his Undersea Kingdom.
